Marcasites are known as "Black Diamonds": they are formed from Hematite – an iridescent black-grey stone found in the mountains of the English Lake District. Large crystals have so much lustre that they used to be used as mirrors!

ART DECO STERLING SILVER PERIDOT RING

A Beautiful Art Deco Peridot Ring in Sterling Silver.
There are 3 Perfect square cut clear Peridots in this Ring.

Peridots are at the top of the semi-precious range of stones. They were very popular in Victorian times, often referred to as ‘Olivines’ – a reference to their attractive colour. Peridot was often used in Religious Jewellery. The Crusaders brought Peridot to Europe in the Middle Ages, transporting stones from St. John’s Island in the Red Sea, where it has been mined for over 3,500 years!

In this Ring, there are around 1 ½ carats of Peridot in an unusual and Attractive Art Deco setting. In Excellent Condition.
Size 7.5 (USA) and P (UK) - easily altered, too.

The centre is a perfect, smooth piece of polished Black Onyx – like Jet.
This is framed by leaves and flowers in a typical Art Nouveau pattern.

On a substantial shank, and in Excellent Condition.

Size K ¾ (UK) and 5 ¾ (USA) and it could easily be re-sized, up to 3 sizes, if necessary by any working jeweller.

HUGE BREATHTAKING GARNET&MARCASITE RING

This is a Formidable and Magnificent Antique Sterling Silver Ring, set with Garnets and Marcasites!
There are 20 faceted Garnets in two rows of 10.
Each Beautiful rich red Burgundy Garnet is 30 points – that’s a total of 12 carats of Garnets!

In the centre and on the outside there are three rows of rose-cut Marcasites in an ornate setting.
Set in Sterling Silver, it measures 1 ¾ inches long by just under ¾ inch wide.
In Excellent Condition.
